Quick answer
Choose artifacts by content, not by one global rank.
Use overall tier-list discussion to build a shortlist. Then check the actual mode: Chapter Hunt wants KPM, Stage Breakthrough wants wave and timer consistency, bossing wants single-target clears, and Arena wants matchup tools.
Content map
The same artifact can move tiers by mode.
Current reads
Practical notes from the pre-May 21 tier-list discussion.
- Book of Ancient is much better when it helps cap Critical Rate; it loses value once you already reach 100% Critical Rate without it.
- Athena Pierce's Old Gloves and Bottle of Emotion become more interesting when Attack Speed and higher artifact-slot setups can support the combo.
- Clear Spring Water should be treated as a dungeon-style artifact, not a generic all-content damage pick.
- Flaming Lava and Hexagon Necklace were called out as important Guild War-style tools, but the final slot still depends on what your account lacks.
- Peach Tree Herb Pouch, Lunar Dew, and other matchup artifacts can look lower overall while still mattering in Arena or a specific push test.
Testing order
Use this order before spending upgrade materials.
May 21 artifacts
The new artifacts should not be blindly inserted into old tiers.
Horn Flute, Alliance Badge, and Cursed Doll were added after the original priority discussion. Treat Horn Flute as a Chapter Boss test first, Alliance Badge as group-content scaling, and Cursed Doll as Arena anti-evasion tech until testing is stronger.
