Arena and Colosseum

Arena and Colosseum Guide

Arena is a matchup mode before it is a CP race. Pick beatable targets, bait control skills, use an Arena preset, and consider Cursed Doll when Evasion players are the wall.

Adapted from Rumii's Arena Discord notes and cuts' matchup testing notes from YourWife, Bera1.

Arena route

Win more by choosing the fight, then spending control skills after theirs.

The clean route is target scouting, manual opening, companion timing, and a content-specific preset. Cursed Doll adds a new answer for Evasion-heavy opponents, but it is not a default PvE artifact. After the 05.21 matching update, CP sandbagging is no longer a reliable shortcut.

Route

Use a repeatable Arena loop instead of trusting CP.

CP is useful for scouting, but it misses the parts that often decide Arena: job matchup, main companion rarity, stun timing, Evasion, Accuracy, and whether your preset is built for players instead of monsters.

1 Scout

Check job, level, companion, and whether the opponent looks like a dodge or control setup.

2 Bait

Open manually when needed. Let enemy control skills fire before spending your own control.

3 Commit

Summon DK or Hero around the survival window, then use burst after the dangerous skill is gone.

4 Push late

If ranking matters, spend tickets near reset so opponents have less time to farm you back down.

Reset timing

Rumii's timing note is mainly for F2P and light spenders: complete serious Arena pushes close to reset, often around the last 30 minutes. Use earlier tickets for testing, then save the real rank push for when the reset window protects the result.

Target choice

Pick opponents by matchup, not just by lower number.

The Discord route favors targeting mages, especially Ice/Lightning, when the account can handle them. It warns against blindly taking lower-CP fights if the opponent has a strong Dark Knight or Hero main companion, because that defensive utility can flip the fight.

Targets to test first
  • Mages that your job can reach and punish.
  • Players with lower companion rarity or weaker Arena utility.
  • Friendly fights before you spend ranked tickets.
Targets to respect
  • Dark Knight and Hero main companion defenses.
  • Marksman and other long-range control setups.
  • High-rarity companions that make the CP gap misleading.
Fight controls
  • Do not spend your main control skill into their first control window.
  • Turn Full Auto on later if manual opening keeps you alive.
  • Use a separate attack preset so defense setup does not drag down your push.

Job matchup notes are a starting point. Rarity, level, companion timing, and the opponent's utility can override a simple tier read.

Presets and companions

Build for players: Accuracy, Evasion, control, and survival matter.

Players are neither Bosses nor Normal Monsters, so Boss Damage and Normal Monster Damage do not behave like normal Arena answers. Use a separate Arena preset and test whether your current wall is hit rate, survival, control, or raw pressure.

Main companion

Dark Knight and Hero are the safest starting points because heal, shield, and control are valuable in a player fight. Higher rarity or level can still beat the cleaner chart answer.

Sub companions

Favor Max Damage, Min Damage, and Attack Speed when they fit your account. Avoid forcing Ice/Lightning or Night Lord as companions just because they work elsewhere.

Defensive lines

Damage Taken Decrease, Crit Resist, Debuff Tolerance, Evasion, and Accuracy are all real Arena checks when the opponent is built to deny damage.

Korean preset check

MGF's PvP/Guild War preset image supports two Arena-style branches: Evasion plus Accuracy setups, and Attack setups that still keep Accuracy in the line mix.

New artifact update

Cursed Doll is the May 21 anti-evasion artifact.

Cursed Doll is the new artifact to account for in Arena planning. Its official text gives Inventory Accuracy, on-equip Accuracy, and Final Damage. If the target evades your attack, the Final Damage effect disappears for 5 seconds and Accuracy is multiplied by 3.

When to use it

  • Use it into opponents whose Evasion setup is causing missed attacks.
  • Compare it against Soul Pouch, Flaming Lava, Peach Tree Herb Pouch, Lunar Dew, and other matchup artifacts.
  • Do not force it when the opponent is not dodging; a direct damage or control artifact may still be cleaner.

Practical read: Cursed Doll makes mixed damage-plus-Accuracy Arena presets more interesting because it can punish dodge setups without turning every gear slot into pure Accuracy.

Arena coins

Buy weekly power first, then save or spend on account goals.

Arena coins are limited. Rumii's coin note estimates that many players land around 6,300 to 10,500 coins per week depending on rank, while the core weekly Artifact Chest and Star Force Enhancement scroll route costs 8,750 coins.

Artifact Chest 10 x 500 5,000 coins
Star Force Enhancement 25 x 150 3,750 coins
Core weekly total Artifact plus Star Force 8,750 coins
After weeklies Save or buy enhancers Goal based
Spend calmly

Buy the weekly artifacts first unless your account has a clear short-term reason to push bonus cubes, mana gear, or another bottleneck. Arena matters, but it is not a panic-spend mode.

The weekly shop is the practical reason Arena participation matters even when you are not chasing rank.

Colosseum

Play Colosseum like a longer Arena board.

Colosseum is still a player-vs-player preset problem. Treat it as Arena with a longer board: scout the matchup, keep a PvP preset, use tickets when the rank window matters, and do not assume lower visible CP means a free win.

Mirror Arena first Use the same checklist: job matchup, main companion, Accuracy or Evasion, control timing, and artifact matchup before raw CP.
Skip old sandbagging Older community tips leaned on freezing upgrades or visible CP. The 05.21 matching update targets that behavior, so build for real fights instead.
Push with timing Community notes still point to timing as the real edge: do serious hits when opponents have less time to answer, and respect defensive companions like Dark Knight.
Decision priority

Track whether losses come from misses, control, bans, companion timing, or raw damage. That tells you whether to change Accuracy, Evasion, artifact, companion, or job-target choices first.
