Current class read
Dark Knight is an Evil Eye class first, then a burst-timing class.
The safest DK baseline is not just a six-skill order. Evil Eye enables damage-taken, Attack, Boss Damage, continuous damage, and Revenge of the Evil Eye. Rush and Evil Eye Shock are timing tools, while 4th Job adds Dark Impale as the current basic attack and Gungnir's Descent as the boss spender.

Evil Eye must stay live
Evil Eye is the debuff and party-buff engine. Shock, Hex, Dominant, and Revenge all care that Evil Eye is actually summoned.

Rush and Shock are content timing tools
Source-channel notes repeatedly point to Rush plus Evil Eye Shock. Swap their order by hit timing; do not remove Shock without a result test.

Dark Impale replaces older basic attacks
After 4th Job, Dark Impale is the current basic-attack effect. Lower-rank basic attacks should not sit in the finished tabs.

Gungnir decides boss windows
Gungnir is the short-cooldown boss spender. Cooldown reduction only matters when it creates an extra useful cast.
Book and Star Rock depend on account state
The DK source discussion says Book is strong until Crit Rate and Crit Damage are solved; late-game Star Rock can overtake it for some high-investment DKs.
Skills and job data
Use MSI Jobs for exact skill data, then use this page for setup.
The route cards show the active skills. Passives such as Hex of the Evil Eye, Evil Eye of Dominant, Revenge of the Evil Eye, Final Pact, Barricade Mastery, and Power Stance explain why DK wants Evil Eye uptime and why 4th Job levels change the page quickly after level 100.

Summons the debuff source. Later masteries turn it into a larger damage-taken and boss-support window.

Requires Evil Eye, deals multi-hit damage, and stuns. Current notes do not support dropping it by default.

Attack and allied Defense buff. Keep it before the damage window rather than after the target is already dying.

Forward charge and stun. In breakthrough, judge it by whether it hits the final target, not by animation feel.

Attack buff with a low-HP defensive fallback. Treat it as a setup buff before the real spenders.

Current basic-attack effect after 4th Job, with later boss damage and strike-count masteries.

Boss spender with a short cooldown. Extra casts can matter when the timing window is long enough.

Attack buff for the 4th Job page. Place before the boss or final target window.

Buff removal and damage-taken window. Useful in PvP, Guild content, and hard target checks when it connects.
Current checks
Check these before rerolling the whole page.
The old DK sheet is useful as a baseline but was retired by its source thread in May. The current page uses that sheet for direction, then updates the risky parts with Discord scan notes and the newer artifact guide logic.

Do not delete Shock by default
The source Discord had direct pushback against no-Shock setups. Start with Rush plus Shock, then test order by content.

Rush first can help breakthrough
Main-channel DK notes mention using Rush first to make Stage Breakthrough easier when it connects with the stage flow.

Attack Speed is strong only while MP holds
Bow Master pages, equipment, and ability lines can solve Attack Speed, but more speed can fail if potion and MP recovery cannot support it.
Hexagon rises in long fights
Use Hexagon when the fight lasts over a minute or long enough to stack. In short breakthrough walls, Candle or immediate damage can test better.
Book is not automatic forever
Keep Book when Crit Rate is not solved. When Crit Rate and Crit Damage are already high, compare Star Rock and other lower-slot damage artifacts.
Content setups
Open the content you are building for.
Each content setup follows the same guide order: skill tabs, main and alt companion, six sub companions, ability priority, artifact order, then notes. Start from the listed row, then change only the piece that matches the failed result.
Manual timing
Manual only when timing changes the target hit.
Full auto is fine for most farming. Manual play is worth testing when Rush, Evil Eye Shock, Gungnir, Magic Crash, or the companion window misses the target that actually survives.
Let Evil Eye exist before judging Shock, Hex, Dominant, Revenge, or boss debuff value.
Hyper Body, Cross Over Chains, and Dark Resonance should be active before the boss or final monster eats the damage.
Rush first can help some breakthrough routes. Shock first can be better when Rush moves DK away or whiffs the target.
Cooldown reduction is only meaningful when it adds another Gungnir, Rush, or Shock inside the useful window.
If the loss is Crit Rate, MP, misses, survival, or normal-mob speed, fix that wall instead of forcing more manual inputs.
Cubing priority
Prioritise the line that explains the failed content.
DK stat discussion was consistent on one point: Crit Rate, Crit Damage, main stat scaling, Attack Speed, and Min / Max value change by account state. Use the failed run as the tie-breaker.
- Solve Crit Rate first.Book and Critical Damage lines are weaker if the account does not crit reliably.
- Keep Critical Damage after Crit Rate works.Crit Damage becomes premium once the hits are actually critting.
- Use Boss Damage or Normal Monster Damage by content.Boss walls want Boss Damage. Chapter Hunt and normal dungeons want Normal Monster Damage.
- Keep STR % and Main Stat scaling high.Source-channel stat advice called main stat broadly strong for DK progression.
- Respect Attack Speed and MP together.Attack Speed is valuable only while potions and MP recovery keep the page casting.
- Use Min / Max later.Min and Max Damage are stronger once the core damage, crit, and sustain lines are already stable.
- Check 4th Job lines after 100.Dark Impale, Gungnir, Dark Resonance, Magic Crash, and the Evil Eye passives make 4th Job breakpoints matter quickly.
Star Force priority
Spend Star Force where it changes the next clear.
Dark Knight wants damage, but the right spend still depends on the failure: requirement gate, weapon damage, survival, MP sustain, hit consistency, or a timing wall.
- Unlock the next gate first.Spend where Star Force requirement blocks the next content attempt.
- Push weapon when timer is the wall.Stage Breakthrough, boss pages, and Guild score checks usually reveal weapon pressure quickly.
- Raise armor when DK dies before the window.Final Pact helps, but survival still matters in PvP, Guild War, and boss mechanics.
- Re-test after 4th Job breakpoints.New Dark Impale, Gungnir, Dark Resonance, Magic Crash, and passive levels can change which upgrade feels best.
- Stop when the bottleneck changes. If the run fails from Crit Rate, MP, Accuracy, or Rush timing, more Star Force can miss the real problem.
Tips and FAQ
Checks that explain most failed Dark Knight pages.
- Keep Evil Eye live. Most DK 3rd and 4th Job value assumes Evil Eye is summoned. If Evil Eye drops, the page can look weaker than it is.
- Rush plus Shock is the default timing test.Current Discord checks support Rush and Evil Eye Shock together. Swap order by content instead of deleting one immediately.
- Dark Impale replaces older basics.Slash Blast, Spear Sweep, and La Mancha Spear are earlier basic-attack effects. Dark Impale is the finished 4th Job basic.
- Book stays high until Crit Rate is solved. The DK source thread specifically pushed back on Book being universal once late-game crit stats are already solved.
- Star Rock is a late-game comparison. Some high-investment DKs tested Star Rock above Book, but the thread also warned that this does not apply to everyone.
- Attack Speed needs MP support.Bow Master and Attack Speed lines can help, but potion cooldown and MP recovery can cap the benefit.
- Cooldown reduction is not always visible.Tiny cooldown lines may not change anything. Value it when it adds an extra Rush, Shock, or Gungnir in a one-minute style boss check.
- Do not turn class-swap chat into a DK tier list.Main-channel Paladin, Hero, Bishop, and DK comparisons were account-state discussion, not a settled Dark Knight preset rule.
- Party Quest disables companion calls.Use companion pages there as passive bonuses, then judge clear time and final target HP.
FAQ
Common Dark Knight questions
Is the old DK reference sheet still current?
Use it as a baseline only. The source thread says the old version was retired in May, so this guide keeps the useful DK direction but updates artifact, companion, and timing notes with the newer Discord scan.
Should I use Rush or Evil Eye Shock?
Use both as the starting point. Rush can help Stage Breakthrough when it hits the target cleanly, while Evil Eye Shock keeps the stun and Evil Eye interaction. Swap their order by the content result.
When does Book move down?
Move Book down only when Crit Rate is reliable without it and Crit Damage is already high. Before that, Book can beat stronger-looking damage artifacts because crit scaling still needs real crits.
Is Dark Knight a good companion for itself?
This page does not recommend equipping Dark Knight as its own companion. If you have a separate DK page from another account or source, test it as external utility, especially in Guild War or Conquest.
Does Magic Crash matter?
Yes when buff removal or the damage-taken mastery changes the result. It is most relevant in PvP, Guild content, and hard target checks, not every farming route.
